Juicing vegetables is great for anyone who is interested in becoming healthier. Juicing your own fresh vegetables is not only more cost effective than purchasing prepared juices, but it is also healthier.  Learning how and what to juice is important in gaining all the health benefits of juicing to help combat everything from a cold to chronic diseases.

Many store bought juices contain large amounts of fruit instead of vegetables which can spike your blood sugar and insulin levels.  Other than green apples, fruits should not be juiced but eaten fresh.  Vegetables of all colors and varieties such as carrots, beets, spinach, chard, kale, broccoli stems, cabbage and celery should make up most of every juice. When blood sugar is a concern, leafy greens should make up to 80% of each serving. Store bought juices are also usually pasteurized to give them a longer shelf life which destroys many nutrients.  Fresh juice is unpasteurized so the taste and nutrients are preserved providing the most health benefits.

Juicing is different than making smoothies.  A juicer breaks down the food into a liquid form and separates it from the fiber.  Removing the fiber and extracting the juice enables the body to instantly absorb nutrients to nourish our cells, facilitate detoxification and optimize our health.  It gives your body more of what it needs with less food to digest.  This gives your colon, liver, kidneys, bladder and intestines a break and can help you have a healthier digestive system.  Our ability to absorb nutrients can be deficient due to unhealthy lifestyles, pollution and gut dysbiosis.  With juicing you increase your chance of getting better absorption, almost instantly! Consuming large amounts of nutrients found in juice also supports your immune system which can help you gain control of many chronic diseases and health issues.

Many people who struggle eating their veggies can consume more by juicing.  It’s a great way to help you eat your 6-8 servings a day! Juicing allows you to consume more nutrients by adding a variety of different vegetables which perhaps you normally wouldn’t cook, but throwing them in a juicer is simple. Without the pulp, the body can quickly and easily absorb the nutrients to improve your nutrition and health.  Drinking just one freshly pressed juice each day is an excellent way of infusing your body with a wide variety of vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients that can protect your cells against premature aging and disease. Although, juicing should not replace eating fresh whole fruits and vegetables because having fiber is your diet is important for your digestive system.  To be sure you get enough fiber and nutrients in your diet a proper balance between juice and solid food is important.

Come see how easy it is to juice! Learn how to combine powerful ingredients to cleanse, detoxify, hydrate and nourish your cells to help fight inflammation, ward off colds and flu, help prevent cancer and/or reduce harmful side effects of cancer treatments, soothe an upset stomach, and much more to help your body thrive! You’ll also get to sample some of Dr. Claudia’s favorite juices and take home her recipes.
