CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on method of improving health and function that works to help the body’s own natural healing mechanism dissipate the negative effect of stress on the Central Nervous System. It is utilized to evaluate and enhance the CranioSacral System. Restrictions in this system can lead to a variety of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular problems. CST is non-invasive and produces no tissue guarding. It uses a touch no heavier than a nickel.
CranioSacral Therapy strengthens the body’s ability to heal. It is effective for many conditions associated with pain and dysfunction.
- Migraines & Headache
- Chronic Neck & Back Pain
- Stress/Tension Related Problems
- Chronic Fatigue
- Orthopedic Problems
- Motor Coordination Problems
- And many other conditions
The CranioSacral System (CSS) maintains the environment of the Central Nervous System which consists of specialized nervous tissue and cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds the brain & spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face & mouth, down to the sacrum. An imbalance or restriction can cause dysfunction. The CSS has a rhythm which can be felt throughout the body by a trained practitioner.
CST is a gentle hands-on technique performed by a clinical practitioner which creates positive changes in the body. Moist heat may be used prior to treatment to help reduce muscle tension. The practitioner sits or stands throughout the session at the head, torso or feet and monitors the rhythm at key points. As restrictions and imbalances are found, he or she gently varies their touch to restore the natural movement of the fluid and soft tissue. This helps the body self-correct. The patient’s experiences are very individual and can differ from session to session. Results vary from; experiencing a relaxed state causing a desire to sleep, or having increased energy, with a reduction of symptoms over several weeks. A typical session can last from 30-60 minutes.
