The first 100 days: A journey to health and wellness.
At NMR the clinical management of a person’s weight revolves around the non-disputable principles of fundamental healthy macro-nutrition, dietary glycemic control and metabolic repair.

Day #11

We continue to feel well. Over the next few days we are going to try a few protein bar recipes and some healthy dessert recipes. We both have a sweet tooth and in an effort to stay on track and not cave in to our cravings we are on a quest to find healthy alternatives. We’ll pass along good recipes we find.

2 of our recent attempts:
Success: Quartered apple with 2 Tbsp. of almond butter drizzled on top. DELICIOUS and EASY. (Sean’s new favorite.)

Fail: Kristen followed a recipe for oven dried strawberries. Kristen baked the strawberries at 200 degrees for 3 hours, the finished product = very tart, mushy strawberries.

Many of the people have a hard time believing how good we say that we feel. There is some science to back up our claims. We are eating very little food that causes an inflammatory response in our bodies and we are eating a lot of food that reduces the inflammation process, systemically.

Fact: Chronic inflammation (several months or more) will make you more susceptible to numerous diseases, including heart disease, cancer, Crohn’s disease, fibromyalgia, allergies and more.

See the picture attached to learn which foods causes inflammation and which foods reduce inflammation.

We want to clarify some information about our recent 7-day detox:

The detox that we followed is not the same “colon cleanse” or starvation detox that is seen on TV claiming to melt off 10 lbs. in 5 days. This detox plan is designed to “re-start” the digestive system and improve digestive function. The foods that we ate allowed the digestive system to do what it is designed to do; convert food into basic nutrients and energy that then feed the entire body.

** A detox may cause adverse reactions (possibly a Herxheimer Reaction), do not attempt this or any detox without supervision from your health care provider.**

Be Well,
–Sean and Kristen
